Omid Farokhzad is the Chair and Chief Executive Officer for Seer. Previously, he was Professor at Harvard Medical School and directed the Center for Nanomedicine at Brigham and Women’s Hospital. He has authored over 175 papers and is an inventor of over 200 issued and pending patents. Omid previously founded BIND Therapeutics (NASDAQ: BIND, acquired by Pfizer), Selecta Biosciences (NASDAQ: SELB), and Tarveda Therapeutics. He is a 2018 Fellow of the National Academy of Inventors. He is a recipient of the 2016 Ellis Island Medal of Honor and the 2014 Golden Door Award from the International Institute of New England, for his scientific, societal and economic contributions to America as an immigrant; the 2013 RUSNANOPRIZE, one of the largest international nanotechnology prizes for his work on nanomaterial surface modification; and the 2012 Ernst & Young New England Entrepreneur of the Year award. He received his M.D. and M.A. from Boston University and his M.B.A. from MIT Sloan School of Management.

Omead Ostadan is the President and Chief Operating Officer for Seer, as well as a member of our Board of Directors. He was most recently Chief Product and Marketing Officer and a member of Illumina’s executive management team. He joined Illumina in 2007 as Vice President of Marketing and built the company’s marketing organization during a period of tremendous growth and diversification. In 2011 Mr. Ostadan was Senior Vice President of Product Development and in 2015 his role expanded to include the company’s Global Operations and Quality functions. Prior to joining Illumina, Mr. Ostadan was Vice President of Marketing at Solexa from 2005-2007. Before Solexa, Mr. Ostadan held a variety of marketing roles at Applied Biosystems over a nearly 10-year span, where he managed the company’s high throughput sequencing platforms. Mr. Ostadan holds a BS in Biochemistry from the University of California at Davis and an MBA from The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.

David R. Horn is the Chief Financial Officer for Seer. Prior to joining Seer, Mr. Horn worked at Morgan Stanley for over 20 years, where he served as a Managing Director in the firm’s Global Healthcare Group within the Investment Banking Department. Mr. Horn was responsible for Morgan Stanley’s global Life Science Tools and Diagnostics practice and oversaw the Western Region Healthcare practice. In addition, Mr. Horn previously spent time working in the medical device and life science sectors where he served as Vice President of Business Development at RITA Medical Systems and, prior to that, in the same role at Chemdex Corporation. Mr. Horn holds a Bachelor of Arts from Princeton University and an MBA from the Stanford University Graduate School of Business.

Philip Ma is the co-founder and Chief Executive Officer for PrognomIQ, a company spun out from Seer. Previously, he co-founded, was Chief Business Officer and President of Seer. Prior to Seer, he was Vice-President for Digital Health Technologies and Data Sciences at Biogen, a group that he established in 2015 to discover insights and create value for Biogen and its patients. Prior to joining Biogen, Philip was Senior Partner at McKinsey & Company, where he served global leaders in the pharmaceutical and biotech sectors, leading the West Coast Healthcare Practice and global Personalized Medicine practice for the Firm. Active in community affairs, Philip also serves on the Board of Committee of 100, a group of Chinese-American business and community leaders focused on U.S. China relations and the Asian-American experience. Before McKinsey, Philip was a macromolecular crystallographer in the lab of Dr. Carl O. Pabo at Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where he received his Ph.D. in Biology. Philip also has degrees in Biochemistry (A.B. from Harvard College) and in Economics (MPhil from Oxford University, where he was a Rhodes Scholar).

Marty is Vice President of Product Development at Seer. Prior to Seer, Marty was at Talis Biomedical Corporation where he served most recently as Sr. VP, Operations and prior to that, Sr. VP Research & Development. Before joining Talis, he was Chief Operating Office at Gen9, a synthetic biology startup. Marty was at Affymetrix from 1993 to 2010 in roles of increasing responsibility, where he established and oversaw the company’s first wafer scale manufacturing facility, and also as Sr. VP R&D, where he had responsibility for the commercialization of numerous GeneChip® products ranging from new gene expression, genotyping or cytogenetic detection arrays to the launch of the GeneTitan® and GeneAtlas® platforms. Marty holds a PhD in Chemistry from the University of California at San Diego with a focus on physical organometallic chemistry.

Damian is Vice President of Engineering at Seer. Prior to joining Seer, Damian was the VP of Process Engineering at Sila Nanotechnologies from 2013-2020, where he drove new nano-material development, EH&S, and engineering & production systems. Prior to Sila, from 2008-2011, Damian served as R&D Cell Line Manager at 1366 technologies where he was responsible for developing new cell architecture technologies, production, and collaborations. From 2003-2008, Damian worked at Alkermes developing sterile injectable microsphere production systems. He holds a degrees in Biology and Biomedical Engineering from Tufts University and a masters in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Minnesota. He brings 18 years of new material development and production experience to Seer.

Jennifer Maggio serves as our Vice President, Corporate Controller. Ms. Maggio joined us in July 2020. Prior to joining, Ms. Maggio served as Vice President, Corporate Controller at SI-BONE, Inc., Controller for Ventus Medical and Director of Finance and Accounting for Accuray. She has assisted both SI-BONE, Inc. and Accuray in completing their initial public offerings. Prior to working in the life sciences, Ms. Maggio worked for Novellus Systems and began her career as a public accountant with Grant Thornton. Ms. Maggio received a B.S. in Business Administration, with concentrations in Accounting and Computer Information Systems from California State University, Hayward.

Asim Siddiqui is Vice President of Software and Applications and brings over 20 years of experience in bioinformatics and software engineering to Seer. Prior to Seer, he was Chief Technology Officer at NuMedii responsible for the company’s AI drug discovery platform. Prior to that, he served as Vice President of Product Development at Natera where he built drove Natera’s NIPT diagnostic cloud strategy and critical initiatives. Prior to Natera, Asim led bioinformatics methods and software for next generation sequencing including as Director of Bioinformatics at Life Technologies, where he was awarded the Life Technology Inventor Award. Asim has authored over 30 peer-reviewed publications include articles in Science and Nature. He holds a doctorate in Bioinformatics from Oxford University, and a degree in Physics from Cambridge University.

Serafim Batzoglou is our VP and Chief of Computation. Prior to joining Seer, Serafim served as Chief Data Officer at Insitro, leading machine learning and data science in their approach to drug discovery. Prior to Insitro, he served as VP of Applied and Computational Biology at Illumina, leading research and technology development of AI and molecular assays for making genomic data more interpretable in human health. Serafim was a co-founder of DNAnexus Inc. in 2009. He spent 15 years at Stanford University as Professor of Computer Science and Biomedical Data Sciences, and as a member of the Stanford AI Lab (SAIL). He has received numerous awards and distinctions, including Top Young Technology Innovator in MIT Technology Review in 2003, the inaugural Innovator Award by the International Society for Computational Biology (ISCB) in 2016, and Fellow of the ISCB in 2020. Serafim has served on several scientific advisory boards including those of 23andMe, NextBio, DNAnexus, Eve Biomedical, Genapsys and Moleculo. Serafim holds a PhD in Computer Science from Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

Elona Kogan has served as our General Counsel and Secretary since November 2020. Prior to joining us, Ms. Kogan served as General Counsel and Secretary of Selecta Biosciences, Inc., a clinical-stage biotechnology company, from March 2019 to August 2020. From July 2016 to April 2017, Ms. Kogan served as General Counsel and Head of Government Relations at ARIAD Pharmaceuticals, Inc., a rare disease oncology company, where she was a key executive through the acquisition of the company by Takeda Pharmaceuticals Company Limited. Ms. Kogan led the legal and government affairs functions of Avanir Pharmaceuticals, Inc., a publicly traded pharmaceutical company, from May 2011 to August 2015, until its acquisition by Otsuka Pharmaceutical Co. Ltd. Prior roles included positions of increasing responsibility at King Pharmaceuticals, Inc., Bristol-Myers Squibb, and Bergen Brunswig Corporation. Ms. Kogan is also a member of the board of Cardax, Inc. and serves as the Chairperson of the Compensation Committee and a member of the Audit Committee. Ms. Kogan is a graduate of the SCALE program at Southwestern University School of Law. Ms. Kogan graduated cum laude from Columbia University, Barnard College, with a B.A. in economics.

Shashanka is our Vice President of Corporate Development. Prior to Seer, Shashanka was Vice President & Head of Corporate Strategy for Illumina, Inc. where he led global strategy development and execution. He also led the Marketing Strategy, Analytics & Pricing functions as a senior member of the Illumina Marketing Leadership team. Prior to Illumina, Shashanka was a Principal with The Boston Consulting Group working with a variety of global medtech and life sciences corporations on corporate strategy, M&A and marketing topics. Earlier, he worked in corporate development and general management roles at Upsher-Smith and Smiths Medical in addition to spending several years at Microsoft and Cummins in strategy, finance and product management roles. Shashanka holds a Bachelor of Science in Business with Finance and Management Information Systems concentrations from the University of Minnesota’s Carlson School of Management.

Karen is our Vice President, Corporate Marketing and Communications at Seer. She was most recently Vice President, Global Marketing and Communications for Illumina Inc. overseeing all areas of communications, marketing, eCommerce and corporate citizenship over a 16 year period of rapid growth. During her tenure at Illumina, Karen also served as Chief of Staff to the CEO across two CEOs, established the Women’s Leadership Network, founded the Illumina Foundation and drove multiple cross-sector programs for the company. Prior to Illumina, she served in commercial leadership roles at Qiagen and Invitrogen, building from early stage success and profitability to growth at scale. Karen has received multiple awards in the community, including San Diego Business Journal Business Woman of the Year 2019. She is a member of the Dean’s Leadership Council for the Biological Sciences Division of UCSD. Karen holds a Bachelor’s in Biochemistry and Cell Biology from the University of California, San Diego.
